What is Timebanking

Discover the power of timebanking – where your skills become currency and neighbors become friends.

Imagine a community where everyone's skills are valued

  • What is Timebanking?
Timebanking is a revolutionary way to connect with your neighbors, build community, and get those essential tasks done – all without using traditional money.
  • At the heart of timebanking is the idea that everyone's time is equally valuable. An hour of baking lessons is worth an hour of gardening help, or an hour of companionship.

How Timebanking works

  1. Join Your Local Timebank: Find a Timebank in your area and become a member. It's usually free and open to everyone!
  2. Offer Your Skills: What are you good at? Do you love baking, fixing things, speaking another language, or just offering a listening ear? List your skills on the Timebank exchange board.
  3. Help Someone Out: Browse requests from other members. When you find a task you can do, lend a hand! For each hour you give, you'll earn a "time credit."
  4. Get the Help You Need: Time to use those credits! Post a request for the help you need and watch the offers come in.

Why join a Timebank?

  • Discover Hidden Talents: Your community is full of skilled people you might never have met otherwise!
  • Feel More Connected: Timebanking builds strong relationships and combats loneliness.
  • Save Money: Instead of paying for services, exchange your time for the things you need.
  • Make a Difference: Strengthen your community and support those around you.
